Well, I'll start this ball rolling with maybe trying out a new updated SIM. Maybe a few of the wiz kids around here could try them out by simulating a few seasons like Hank (or someone else, can't remember) did this summer. Put in the rosters people have now and see what comes on of it. Plus, I'd be willing to send a few Paypal bucks to the guy who would purchase this said new program. Ok, so now go on kiddies, let the madness begin!!! ;D

Seeing that we're all wanting to be NHL realistic, ie injuries and review suspensions (guess GMs only want Leaf players suspended). I take it next would be salaries ;D

The simming was done by John and that man with the goon squad of a hockey team.

I'd be down for donating for a new sim. Like Eastside Hockey Manager or something like that maybe?

I love Eastside, but it's not appropriate for this league. I think he's refering to the one Hank has used before. It's very similar to the FHL one now in use, but expanded. They've also indicated no further updates will be coming for the FHL software, whereas the other will have regular updates.
It's worth exploring, certainly. I'd also be game for a separate, stand-alone EHM league using 2007 if anyone's interested.

The one that Hank mentioned is certainly worth a look... but before even discussing the idea of switching I'd want someone to spend some time thoroughly testing it (including hte conversion process)... personally, I dont have the time

I hope we drop the waiver draft. We all have limited time and this is useless time-consuming.
As for coaches, I think there should be a better way than a draft. And a much fair one. I mean if coaches have high impact on teams, and long term ones (free agency for coach is quite.. unusual) what are the solutions? redo a draft year after year?
I still would like to see the impact of coaches.. is there any impact? if so, how big? do we get coach for the look and realism or because they improve the team?
When this will be answered, I think we will be able to move into the coach process and do it the right way

When this will be answered, I think we will be able to move into the coach process and do it the right way I agree with dropping the waiver draft, because I believe the NHL dropped the waiver draft in the new CBA as well. Also, this is probably off topic, but I always thought we should get rid of the soft cap and just mark a hard cap to sort of follow the NHL's cap, like next year its suppose to be around 48 mill. I figured this would be easier on the commish not having to figure out luxury taxes and stuff.

I thought it was your idea to do it this way As for long-term, no once we draft them, they get signed like the players...

I still would like to see the impact of coaches.. is there any impact? if so, how big? do we get coach for the look and realism or because they improve the team? I know that coaches have some impact... the actual statistics, i don't think anyone did any research and doubt anyone has enough time to simulate thousands of different seasons with different teams and different coaches, just to get the basic #s and then attempt to calculate the actual impact..
