Hey guys,
Even though we're in the middle of an intense playoff run here, I don't think it's a bad idea to start talking about the future of the league.
Martin's departure is going to leave an enormous hole to fill, both from a GM perspective and, perhaps more importantly, from a management perspective.
I have a feeling it's going to be a difficult task to find someone willing to take over the full range of duties a Commissioner has to perform. However, thanks to improving online multi-user functionality, it may not be necessary to have the duties performed by just one person.
We may be able to split the Commissioner's duties up between two or, ideally, three people to lighten the load on each and ensure a well-run ship. There are several means of sharing files in a secure manner, such that they can be accessed by multiple users perhaps even to the point of simming from anywhere with a single copy of the STHS program. With the help of an appropriately-designed script, we might even be able to automate this process.
Anyway, I think we'd need to determine how to divvy up the duties (eg. one person who sims, one who handles contracts and signings, etc) and find people to fill those roles. I'd be willing to perform the daily sims, but have no interest in negotiating contracts or creating new players and the like.. that stuff really bogged me down last time I had a kick at this particular can.
Anyone care to add their thoughts?

I talked to Jacques et work and he told me he wouldn't mind doing the SIM. And if I'm not mistaken, didn't the GM from Columbus say he wanted to be the Commish for next year?

Boston gm Jay want to do it but he need somebody to sim plus we maybe have to update the website to this one nhl.simhl.net/home.php?team=0 thats the demo. Every gm can write on the website at anytime. Funnier. Like Wayne said we can split some duties 3 or 4 guy's.

I am willing to take on the role of commish for the league, but would want someone to be the simmer for the league.
I believe this league is very strong in the gm's they have in place and would like to keep it that way as it would be a shame to see the league go down.
I also see a lot more potential that the league could benefit from and wouldn't mind bringing in a few things into the league for the beginning of next season, and possibly changing a few things to make the league more interesting.
With running a league before I do realize that you need to put a lot of work into it and also realize that to be a successful league you need people to help out (such as a trade committee, free agency reps and maybe more). If there are people to help out it would make that league that much better.
I don't know what everyone wants, but I am willing to take on the responsibility of being the commish of the league starting this off season.

I can help out in a support role. I can purge the eligible players list as I did last summer.
I can't do the sim nor would I make a very good commissioner. I can never remember the rules. But we have a good league here and I want to see it continue in the years ahead.

Before anyone else worries about the simming Wayne did say he could handle that.

I will still help as an Agent and on the Board of Directors. I can't take on anymore though. I am about to open up a sports center & indoor soccer facility. Going to be busy!

I would be happy to take a more active role as well.
My travel schedule does not permit me to SIM everynight - but write-ups on the web and other such stuff I could do while on the road would be possible.
I too agree that this league it too valueable to fall apart.

I'm in this for the long haul. Getting married on Saturday and then things will slow down for me... okay, maybe not.
