When are we doing the lottery? Since we are done with the NHL, do we want to just use those results?

So, are we using those results? Our order stays as it is on the standings page?

The SimonT software is capable of some flexibility when it comes to the draft and, specifically, the lottery. You can set all of the following variables:
- draft lottery on/off (NHL=on) - draft order in reverse order of standings on/off (NHL=on) - number of teams in draft lottery (NHL=14) - maximum rank gain (NHL=4)
So, basically, we (or, more specifically, the commish) can decide if we want to hold a lottery and if so, how that lottery will be run.
The lottery, if activated, is conducted shortly before the draft itself. I'm fairly certainy it can't be done earlier as the software is sequential, so the entire season needs to be complete before the option becomes available. A team's chances of getting the 1st overall pick is weighted, just like in the NHL, with the last place team having the highest odds. Only the top (er, bottom) four teams can win the 1st overall pick and no team may move up more than 4 spots in the draft order, if we adhere to NHL rules.
Personally, I like the idea of the lottery to keep things interesting and to keep us in line with the NHL. But that's ultimately up to the boss!

I take it we are also following NHL rules? That you move up a maximum of three spots?
