Do we have a date and time yet for the draft?
Thanks.

If we go by past history it will be at least 1 week after June 27th.

That works fine, although that puts us on July 4th weekend......although the 5th should work for most people as well.

That would be the earliest, again going by our history. We would have to find someone to try and run it as smoothly as Martin has done it.

I wouldn't mind starting the draft 1 week after the NHL has done theirs. So starting July 3rd (7pm EST) the opening round would start. This isn't written in stone as I still want to talk it over with gm's.

July 3 I cannot do, but July 5 I can.

I along with several TFNHLers are in a Brand X rival league (think of a dead Montreal Canadiens captain). They're talking about their draft being on June 28th for reasons only known to God. I can't both at the same time.
July 5 might be better for TFNHL.

So when do we do this? Free agency mustn't be far behind either...

I move for Sunday July 5th at 1 pm eastern, 12 noon central. Rounds 1 through 5 will probably take about 3 hours. I'd also recommend that if you are not present in the chat room to send your draft wish list to Alvaro Silvan.

The chat room doesn't work as I have tried to use it on a few occasions, so I don't think we would use it for the draft. Maybe Oscar would find a way to fix it so we can use the chat room for the draft, if not we could use the message board, or another online source.

And hold free agency at the same time? In sim leagues, we don't have 18 year olds play right away because of the need to have a full season of ratings. Therefore, there is no impact on a team's plans for the next season based on draft results the way it might be in the NHL with the likes of Tavares or Hedman making a squad straight out of the draft. If the draft takes a couple of weeks, no big deal. It should not impact our off-season plans.

Damian,
I am leaning towards the message board for the Entry Draft. I think it won't harm the league any (might even improve the involvement factor of gm's) if we do hold it on the boards.
We do have a few months to get through before the next season and we as a league can do multiple things at once.
I will work on the draft and in the coming days will have it all in place and maybe start it this coming Monday. This is still not written in stone.

This weekend is fine by me, but I'd like to have my trade processed so that I can make my selection (I picked up the #7 overall recently)
thanks.
